Fallen sakura petals amongst dandelions

Fallen Petals & Dandelions

In the USA dandelions are generally treated with contempt by adults (though children love them) because dandelions are understood to be weeds, rather than flowers. I heard that they are considered flowers and are well liked in Japan… A little known cultural difference perhaps?

The stone to the right in the picture denotes the border of the area designated as a place of scenic beauty by the Japanese government. I hadn’t realized that the “place” designated was so specific!
