Japanese Larch Arrangement

Karamatsu(唐松) arrangement in Goten
Currently this Japanese larch, or “karamatsu,” arrangement can be seen in Goten as an example of the seika style (traditional style) of the Omuro School of Flower Arrangement. The overall shape of the arrangement is very beautiful, but the characteristic needles on the larch are also very interesting. The needles are very soft and grow in clusters that fan out with time. I’ve heard that this is a relatively rare type of tree — I certainly had never seen anything like it before!
